Press Release - Abitex Resources Inc. (ABE-TSXV)

I worked five years in the Otish Mountains back in the early1980’s, so I’ve seen the entire Otish Mountains and all of the uranium showings, but this is by far the most significant outcrop in the Otish Mountains. There is no doubt about it. The quality is there of mineralization and everything else, so we are quite excited about it. The market response to that is that we have had a lot of offers to the company financially as we go along with these projects... - Yves Rougerie(ABE) (Interview published December 11, 2009)

ABITEX REPORTS 4.93% eU3O8 OVER 5.2 METERS ON LAVOIE PROPERTY

Val d’Or, Quebec, Canada, January 14, 2010 – Abitex Resources Inc. (TSX-V: ABE)
(the “Company”) is very pleased to announce definition drilling results for the “L” deposit on the Lavoie property located in the Otish Mountains region of Quebec.

The 2009 drilling targeted the western half of the “L” deposit Main Lense. Since 2008, 83 holes totaling 11,280 meters have been completed on the Main Lense which has been defined over a 600 meter strike length on a 25 meter drill pattern. The equivalent U3O8 (eU3O8) results from the 2009 program include numerous high grade intercepts such as:

  • 4.930% eU3O8 over 5.2m in hole L-09-65
  • 2.801% eU3O8 over 4.4m in hole L-09-55
  • 2.289% eU3O8 over 6.7m in hole L-09-64
  • 0.677% eU3O8 over 7.7m in hole L-09-66
  • 0.393% eU3O8 over 9.0m in hole L-09-63
  • 0.346% eU3O8 over 14.0m in hole L-09-48
  • 0.232% eU3O8 over 16.8m in hole L-09-53

Yves Rougerie, President & CEO reports: “We are very pleased with the results of this program which confirm the lateral continuity of the mineralized zones and the presence of high grades over the entire strike length of the deposit. In addition, new areas of enrichment were defined during the drill program as on Section 150E with intercepts of 0.526% eU3O8 over 3.8m and 0.230% eU3O8 over 7.0m. Now that the 2009 results are available, we can move ahead quickly to complete the initial resource estimate for this project.”

Very good grades were also reported from holes drilled into satellite lenses along strike from the Main Lense, including 1.402% eU3O8 over 2.0m on Section 558W and 0.160% eU3O8 over 6.1m on Section 180W. The Company believes these results are very encouraging and indicative of the additional resource potential of the satellite lenses.

The 2009 program consisted of 4,780 meters in 43 drill holes (including 4 abandoned holes) completed between June and September 2009. All holes were probed with radiometric instruments following which probe data was corrected and transformed into equivalent U3O8 grades (eU3O8). Results of the 2009 program follow:

NSA: No Significant Assays

Lengths in meters core length. True widths are not determined at this time.

Holes L-09-75;77;81;82 & 83 targeted satellite lenses

Downhole radiometric probing was completed by Uranium Logging Consulting LLC of France and USA. Gamma measurements were taken in the holes with Geovista radiometric equipment, namely an NGRS-3487 scintillometer probe and a DGGS-3570 Geiger Muller. The probes were calibrated in October 2008 and September 2009 at the Saskatchewan Research Council radiometric test site in Saskatoon, Sk. Comparative chemical assays have not been done for these intersections.

The “L” deposit lies between 50 and 100 meters depth below surface and is recognized over a strike length exceeding 600 meters along the contact between flat-lying sediments and a sub-vertical gabbro intrusive. Structurally controlled disseminated and fracture-filled uranium mineralization is found mainly along the contact and within the sediments (Main zone) but also in the intrusive (Gabbro).

The Lavoie property is the subject of an option agreement with AREVA Resources Canada and SOQUEM Inc. by which Abitex can acquire a 50% interest in the property.
