CEOCFO: Mr. Sadasivam, would you tell us about Sigmaways?

Mr. Sadasivam: We are an IT consulting company based in Silicon Valley. I worked in the Valley for over a decade with start-ups, mid-size and large cap companies before co-founding Sigmaways in 2006. My passion for entrepreneurship really caught on fire after working with startups, especially in the social commerce, mobility, analytics, and cloud. I had a chance to work with the founding teams of Eventbrite, Adteractive, and Versata. Working with the founding team was a blessing; my perception of building business has totally changed since then. That was my inspiration to try out something. Sigmaways journey began in Year 2006 as an experiment keeping my fulltime job for a brief time. As we traversed through the unchartered territory, we started seeing opportunities where we can play a role in solving problems. It all started with one person (as an independent Consultant) one Customer at a time; references from satisfied Customers lead to other opportunities. Then we thought, “Why don’t we do this as an organized business rather than being just an independent consultant?” Thus, the current iteration of Sigmaways was born and since then it has been a busy ride, seeing year after year growth of over thirty percent. We have been recognized by the local community and on the national level by INC magazine and many others; and the workload is ever growing. 

 

CEOCFO: Would you give us an example of the types of projects that you work on for your clients?

Mr. Sadasivam: Our focus is on IT consulting because we see a need for this in the industry. Our Customers embraced Consultants having appropriate background and experience from large companies in a smaller framework.

 
We could address the needs of the clients quicker, faster and better.

 

Currently, we are working on mobility and cloud projects, helping small to midsized businesses transition to the cloud.

 

CEOCFO: Are there particular industries that your clients are in, or is it across the board?        

Mr. Sadasivam: When we started, we did not pay attention to any verticals or industry in particular. After few successful engagements, we realized most of our client base was either start-ups or midsized companies in the technology space or technology vertical. Lately, we have been focusing on building our expertise around retail industry. Besides, Technology & Retail, we have a few clients in the travel and hospitality space as well.

 

CEOCFO: How do you reach new clients? Are they coming to you?

Mr. Sadasivam: We participate in technology events, conferences in the region and across. However, most of our businesses are through referrals. We are very cautious about the commitments we make to our Clients. We do not over-commit and under-deliver; we ensure our promise and value is delivered every time in every engagements we undertake.

 

CEOCFO: Do you typically work on a project by project basis? Do you have some clients that you are “on call whenever”? What is your model?

Mr. Sadasivam: Yes, mostly on project by project basis. 

 

CEOCFO: What do you look for in your people? You mentioned corporate culture, and I know you have what you call a SCORE, Sigmaways Center of Recruiting Excellence Program.

Mr. Sadasivam: We look for passionate people with problem solving skills. We evaluate candidate technical skill and approach to solve a problem through series of interviews. We do not want to box someone to a job description. We just look for open minded people who are really passionate and willing to make an impact in whatever they do. If we come across really good resources, we create a roles for them.

 

CEOCFO: What do you see going forward for the company? Where would you like to be in a year or two down the line?

Mr. Sadasivam: Sigmaways - Vision 2016. By 2016, Sigmaways will celebrate its 10th Year Anniversary. By then, we would like to see Sigmaways graduating from small to mid-size Company.

 

CEOCFO: Why should people pay attention to Sigmaways?   

Mr. Sadasivam: There are too many choices for Customer in this space; most are built by chance, few are by choice. We believe, this is an era of partnering. People are the most powerful marketing resource available to achieve brand identity and Customer commitment. Our People are the differentiating factor. Our commitment to deliver services in a responsive and personalized manner has been recognized by our customers as a key differentiating factor.
