Interview conducted by:

Lynn Fosse, Senior Editor, CEOCFO Magazine, Published – December 14, 2015

CEOCFO: Mr. Kebble, your tag line is “Pure and Simple.” what is SurePure?

Mr. Kebble: It is a pure and simple liquid purification technology. It is basically an alternative to thermal pasteurization, which for those of you that do not know what pasteurization is, it is a process that was developed about one hundred and fifty years ago by a very well known French man by the name of Louis Pasteur. The exercise was done to eliminate pathogenic microorganisms or spoilers; spoiling microorganisms that exist in certain liquids. It was first developed to assist the wine industry, but is more commonly applied to milk and other dairy products. Our challenge was to find a way initially to purify or pasteurize dairy, other beverages and other liquids without using heat, which makes it a non-thermal energy efficient, non-invasive, non-cooked process.

CEOCFO: What put you in that direction and how have you figured it out?

Mr. Kebble: I am the CEO at the moment. I was approached by a person in South Africa who was representing the parties that owned the patent back in 2005. I was involved in bringing funding together to continue the crusade as it were. I did not invent the technology, but I have helped with the development of it, by providing access to certain amounts of capital to get it to where it is today. I am just part of a team of people that carries the flag for the technology.

CEOCFO: Is it ready for prime time? Are you still in development? Where are you right now?

Mr. Kebble: We have developed commercial applications, although we have not achieved commercial success on a scale that generates significant revenues or profits. It is an exciting time! We talk about myriads of liquids. The company has found some traction with various beverages and liquids. We work with some blue chip brands who are experimenting with our technology in various formats, applying it to carbonated fruit/alcohol beverages and also to an adjunct brewing program. Our technology is being used by a company called APC. They process animal blood plasma. In fact we just put out an announcement on November 11, 2015 which is available on our website www.surepureinc.com. We have entered the dairy industry in certain countries. We are still waiting for FDA approval in the USA and we have also applied for EU approval on dairy. We are working with the dairy industry in India and have introduced our technology in South Africa. At least one major beverage company has undertaken an early validation program of various liquids. We are also running tests in the wine industry in certain countries. What is nice about the wine side is that we are able to process or give the wine maker the ability to produce a wine with less, much reduced or no added sulfites. Therefore, sulfur free wine may be something in the future. Fruit juices, vegetable juices, almond milk or any liquid that has a microbial load that needs to be dealt with. Therefore, anything that in the past that would have been pasteurized we believe that we may be able to deal with. This is the case with what we call shelf stable products, because unfortunately, if you see something on the shelf at ambient temperature we have to knock out the enzymes that exist in the natural products. The technology could be used on a fruit juice that has been through a concentration program, so the enzymes have been eliminated. That means that it can go onto the shelf and be shelf stabled. We can process it and give it a shelf life.

CEOCFO: What is involved in an implementation? Are people who are using SurePure buying a piece of equipment?

Mr. Kebble: It is a piece of equipment and it comes in various sizes, depending on the volume of liquid that needs to be processed. However, we can treat volumes from the very small, one hundred liters an hour, but our business systems, at the moment, run on the order of eighty to ninety thousand liters per hour and we can go bigger than that. People can buy the equipment or we can do a royalty agreement with them if they so request.

CEOCFO: Is it the same piece of equipment regardless of what is being processed?

Mr. Kebble: No. It varies in size. It depends on the size is on the dosage that the product requires. Therefore, we can say to you that we know from fresh milk to achieve a log five status, which is what the requirement is for pasteurization, then it requires x number of joules per litre or x number of Turbulators. Water requires something, wine requires something, so it varies. It all looks the same, but it is just like having a bigger make or model motorcar. You have got a V8, you have got a V12 and you have got a four cylinder and a two cylinder.

CEOCFO: There are applications in so many different arenas and so many different countries. How do you reach out? How do you target your marketing efforts or are people coming to you when they hear about what you are doing?

Mr. Kebble: Frequently, people are coming to us. Our constraints at the moment are that we lack operating capital. We basically funded SurePure to date through friends and family and a handful of outside investors. We are on OTC-QB quoted stock. Our stock symbol is SURP, on the OTC QB Market. We have not had, and we still do not have, the financial resources that we would like that would allow us to get out and market our technology. Our technology could be part of the future in which thermal treatment is replaced or has a diminished role. In my opinion, the future of thermal treatment is largely under pressure and it will be modernized and properly put to pasture, because we are all looking for a safer, environmentally conscious society and the least costly way of processing foods and also looking to get the best nutritional value out of the products that we consume. I am going to say something into that might cause some people to call me all sorts of names, but pasteurized milk may be unhealthy for you. When you cook the milk you eliminate the natural enzymes that are important for the development of human beings. People may get milk allergies as a result of drinking pasteurized milk. You may have heard of the raw milk movement. The movement believes that milk straight from the cow has medicinal qualities. Now, when you apply our technology to raw milk, none of the natural constituents in the milk are altered; we just make it safe to drink, taking any pathogens contained in there and virtually eliminating them, and for that reason we give raw milk a shelf life. Essentially, that is something that the public around the world may not yet necessarily understand. Had I not come into this business, I would not have known about it. I just thought milk always had to be pasteurized. The important thing is that we believe that this technology will make dairy products safe for you to consume. We have proven that through the trials that we have sponsored or supported at academic institutions around the world. And, of equal importance, we do not damage any of the natural constitutes of fruit juices, vegetable juices or dairy products.

CEOCFO: Is the cost of switching systems a big factor for your customers? Do they realize the value?

Mr. Kebble: Of course it is a factor, but there are examples where customers have chosen to go with us. In terms of the cost of switching the systems we will happily challenge a company that is using thermal pasteurization to take our equipment, pay us a percentage of what they pay in the energy saving, for the royalty on our equipment. They can take what they are have currently got, scrap it and sell it and in the case of certain of our very big brand people that are doing work with us, show a ninety seven percent savings in energy. We intend to do the hard job. Those that follow us will have it much easier. We do not mind that. We have had to battle, but we believe. In our view, the science is there to prove it. We did not invent the results. The results have been validated by academic institutions in the US, from the University of Wisconsin to the University of California, Davis; and also by certain academic institutions in Europe, China, Australia, New Zealand, even in South Africa. You can look on our website and go through the liquids that have been processed. We also can apply our technology to ethanol and petrochemicals as well. If we can treat fossil fuels, marine diesel, and diesel and so on, which also have microbial problems, we will need strategic partners for those initiatives. To those potential strategic partners who say, “I want to find a cheap, easy way to eliminate micro contamination in my fossil fuels,” I say, “Come and talk to us. We are open. We need to share the technology.” It is a great opportunity for a lot of people to come and go somewhere.

CEOCFO: Why should people look at SurePure right now?

Mr. Kebble: The reason people should look at SurePure right now is because we have got initial traction in various industries. The potential for growth in those industries that we are in, not the ones that we have not looked at yet, is significant. If someone wants to understand more about SurePure and its technology, they can go to our website, and they are welcome to contact me directly.
