CEOCFO: Mr. Shetty, what is the idea behind Codeproof?
Mr. Shetty: The idea was to create an easy to use software platform focusing on security and management of mobile devices for the enterprise with an emphasis on data leakage prevention, a.k.a DLP. We set out to become a SaaS cloud based enterprise mobility management (EMM) innovator.
CEOCFO: What do you understand fundamentally about the process that perhaps other companies do not?
Mr. Shetty: We bring simplicity in the enterprise mobility management technologies. We are the first SaaS cloud-based, pay as you go, freemium model, EMM company. Our software platform built on the AWS cloud, offers easy implementation, maximum scalability and anytime anywhere access.
CEOCFO: What is the key to providing security? Many people say they do but so few people actually get it right.
Mr. Shetty: It is a very good question. Security is a vast area. In our case, the entire software backend is hosted and managed by our engineers. So we not only provide up-to-date software and make it available to our customers but also look after customer devices and apps. Therefore, the end-to-end service we provide adds tremendous value to data security.
CEOCFO: Who would be your typical customer?
Mr. Shetty: We targeted our initial version geared towards the SMB market. We have had some great success with that market. Our typical customers include businesses with 10 iPads or 100 iPhones or those securing 500 Samsung Galaxy devices or more.
CEOCFO: When you are speaking with a potential customer or when they are evaluating Codeproof, is there a typical aha moment when they realize that you do have a better offering? What is the selling point?
Mr. Shetty: The Codeproof aha moment for customers is when they realize how easy it is to use! Since our solution is SaaS cloud based, the freemium subscription model has been a great way for our customers to get introduced to our technology. Our customers typically purchase 5-10 licenses in the beginning and once they complete their evaluation, understand the ease of use model and our approach compared to the competition then they add more licenses when there is a need.
The pay as you go model makes software affordable to small businesses who may not be able to purchase enterprise software license or the hardware required. Devices can be setup with Codeproof in just minutes. Some of our competitor solution takes hours to setup and running.
CEOCFO: How are you able to make ensure simplicity and ease of use?
Mr. Shetty: My experience in developing complex software solutions at Microsoft and McAfee helped me to achieve some of these goals. While very comprehensive in the approach and capability, the SMB market I think finds these alternatives a bit intimidating. Understanding all of this I was determined to make sure our SaaS cloud based freemium model was something anyone would want to try and use. We keep improving our software based on customer feedback and our vision to make Codeproof easy to use.
CEOCFO: Did you learn what not to do as well as what to do?
Mr. Shetty: Yes, every day we are learning something new. Mostly we focus around our customer requirements and their business scenarios. We improve our software based on customer needs. Adding too many features to a SaaS based technology makes software more complex and un-usable. So we always, think about long-term product vision instead of short-term quick fixes.
CEOCFO: How do you reach potential customers?
Mr. Shetty: Most of our customers today come to our site www.codeproof.com via a Google search. Whenever we have a new big product update, we do a press release. I also constantly reach out to bloggers, and they respond by reviewing our latest updates. We also post updates to Facebook and LinkedIn, so our current customers make sure they get the latest updates. We have plans going forward to get much more aggressive in our marketing and sales strategies.
CEOCFO: You recently launched the Samsung Galaxy enterprise mobility management. Would you tell us about that?
Mr. Shetty: This is good stuff. We have been working with the Samsung Korea team for a long time to make this happen. We are also a Samsung MDM /EMM partner. We integrated the Codeproof platform with Samsung’s Android platform. Using Codeproof, administrators can now centrally manage all of Samsung’s Galaxy line of devices. Admins can remotely turn the device into Kiosk mode, blacklist/white list apps, silently install enterprise apps, silently remove apps, manage WiFi profiles, restrict devices such as blocking access to the camera, WiFi, Bluetooth and make other settings changes.
If any business has a Samsung Galaxy device, they should consider using Codeproof to secure and manage those devices. I am sure customers will notice tremendous business value in using our technology.
CEOCFO: Do you find that people take full advantage of the services you have available once they sign up with you?
Mr. Shetty: This really depends on the customer need and their scenario. For example, some of our customers enforce heavy mobile restriction policies and some use app deployment/management and some rely on Codeproof mainly for anti-theft technologies. The good news is that we are simple to use and have a comprehensive set of features to suit many enterprise needs.
CEOCFO: How is business?
Mr. Shetty: we are growing fast. We add new customers of all types daily. We recently announced the hiring of Vinny Gullotto as our president and COO. Vinny was formerly a general manager at Microsoft and he will help me with our business development and increasing revenue. I am excited to have him onboard.
CEOCFO: Why was this the time to enlarge the team?
Mr. Shetty: Time has never been better for us. As you can see with the recent activities in this space such as VMware’s acquisition of Airwatch, IBM’s acquisition of Fiberlink, Good Technologies acquisition of Boxtone, there is tremendous opportunities is in enterprise mobility management (EMM).
This is the perfect time to scale-up. This year focusing on expanding the team and increasing our enterprise footprint will be key to our continued success.
