Oki Semiconductor's microPlat(TM) Design Methodology Wins Wireless
Systems Design Magazine's 2002 Industry Award
Unique, Powerful microPlat(TM) Design Methodology and Development Platform Awarded
'Best Wireless Design Tool' by Leading Committee of Industry Editors
SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Oki Semiconductor, a
leading technology partner for the new era of digital communications and convergence,
announced today that Wireless Systems Design Magazine has selected Oki as the recipient of
a Wireless Systems Design 2002 Industry Award in the category of "Best Wireless
Design Tool" for its microPlat silicon design methodology and platform.
microPlat uses an innovative system based upon an ARM(R) core to significantly speed the
System-on-a-Chip (SOC) and Application-Specific Standard Product (ASSP) design process.
"In one of the most innovative and active markets in the systems
design
industry, our Wireless Systems Design Awards honor companies and solutions that stand
apart in a highly competitive landscape and set the tone for the industry's future
development," said Cheryl Ajluni, Editor in Chief for Wireless Systems Design
Magazine. "Oki Semiconductor's microPlat silicon design methodology and
platform does both, allowing design teams to not only significantly streamline development
cycles, but also to refocus their resources towards differentiating their products."
Wireless Systems Design Industry Awards are given out annually to
recognize innovative wireless products and advances in wireless technology.
For the 2002 awards, companies were nominated in one of six award categories and voted
upon by a 12-person committee consisting of editors of
industry-leading high-tech publications, including Electronic Design,
Netronics, Wireless Systems Design and Microwaves & RF. Winners of the award
were recognized at an awards ceremony at the Wireless Systems 2002 event, which took place
at the San Jose Convention Center on Wednesday,
February 27, 2002. Winners of the award will be featured in the March 2002
issue of Wireless Systems Design (www.wsdmag.com). More information on
Wireless Systems 2002 can be found by visiting www.wirelesssystems2002.com.
"Oki Semiconductor is honored that microPlat has been selected
from among so many innovative tools by such a prestigious committee," said
Shusaku Sumida, president of Oki Semiconductor. "As a customer-centric
company, we are constantly incorporating feedback from our customers into our tools such
as microPlat to ensure that we provide customers with systems that best fit their design
needs."
microPlat (TM) is an ARM-based integration platform and design
environment. This design methodology is based on Oki's SPA
(Silicon Platform Architecture) concept which provides system designers with a total
solution which:
-- Reduces design cycle time
-- Dramatically increases potential for first Silicon success
-- Reduces time-to-market by allowing software development in parallel
with hardware
The uniqueness of the Oki's microPLAT Prototyping System resides in the
combination of the high-speed bus AMBA-AHB access, 4-way set associative cache, and deep
sub-micron technology. Moreover, microPLAT system solutions are aided with silicon
logic and a hardware support platform developed to support common applications, and offer
customers a comprehensive platform-based design tool to ensure that their final chip
designs will meet their requirements.
