CEOCFO: Mr. Rodriguez, what is the idea behind NexusCall AI?
Mr. Rodriguez: We are an AI-
CEOCFO: Why home services?
Mr. Rodriguez: I personally spent many years in these trades. I was a lead technician and sales rep, and a professional manager who coordinated installs for GL Homes, Ryan Homes, and Toll Brothers. My family’s background is in roofing and carpentry, so I see the problem from the inside.
These guys are paying $3,000 to $5,000 a month on Google Ads and marketing to get the phones to ring. When I looked at the data, the average business only answered 60-
These businesses are bleeding $20,000 to $30,000 a month in revenue that they are already trying to pay from Google Ads. I made the solution where they don’t need more leads, they just need to answer the phone, and that is what we fix.
CEOCFO: Are you surprised that so many business owners don’t understand the problem?
Mr. Rodriguez: Yes and no, because a lot of owners I speak to are into their business. When AI comes up, they don’t understand it can really help them. It gives them greater opportunities to focus on the business side if they can automate things.
CEOCFO: Would you tell us about the system you have developed?
Mr. Rodriguez: Our AI receptionist is Ava. She answers calls in under one second; no music, no “press 1 for services” and no IVRs. She sounds like a real person and speaks English and Spanish fluently. She qualifies the caller, books appointments directly into your calendar, she sends confirmation texts, she works 24/7, weekends, holidays, and after hours. Then the business owner gets a real-
CEOCFO: What are the challenges when approaching a potential customer?
Mr. Rodriguez: I feel like the biggest challenge is education. These are trades people, not tech people, so when they hear AI, they think of robot. The whole sales process is, “Call to talk to Ava.” You can see for yourself that she actually speaks like a human, not a robot. Once people experience a conversation with her, their skepticism disappears.
CEOCFO: What have you figured out on your end that enables Ava to work so well, where many of the other AI answering services have failed or fallen short?
Mr. Rodriguez: There are a lot of AI phone tools out there such as for eCommerce or whatever. The thing with Ava is we only serve service businesses, so our AI is trained on how AC company dispatchers talk, schedule appointments, how roofing companies qualify small damage calls. That specialization is why our answer quality is so much higher than a generic solution.
There are a lot of companies out there that are cheaper than us. We are not the cheapest or the priciest; we are in the middle range. There are a lot of small businesses out there like small family-
CEOCFO: How are you reaching the small business owner, and how do you get them to at least listen to what you offer?
Mr. Rodriguez: I have been in the field a lot, so I know a lot of general contractors and owners. I am hands-
CEOCFO: What is your geographic reach today; where are your customers?
Mr. Rodriguez: South Florida. We are national but our overhead is basically South Florida.
CEOCFO: What have you learned as people have started to use your system and what might have changed from day one; from concept to practice?
Mr. Rodriguez: From day one, it was to make sure Ava sounds more human. The thing about Ava is she has caller recognition. When you call her, she will remember your name on the spot. That was something that was just created. We are always optimizing Ava to make sure that she is the best AI receptionist. We always listen to calls, we always see if there are things to optimize or tweak where she could be better. We pride ourselves on always updating and having the highest tech on the market with Ava.
CEOCFO: Why the name Ava?
Mr. Rodriguez: I feel like it just rings. There were two names. There was Anabelle, and Ava. Anabelle is my girlfriend’s name but I feel like it was too personal. I feel like Ava just rolls off your tongue. It is easy to remember and it just rolls.
CEOCFO: According to your site, Ava identifies frustrated callers. How so?
Mr. Rodriguez: Ava has a knowledge base and a memory. She matches people’s energy. If someone speaks fast, it will pick up on that. She will speak the same language. If they speak slower, she will go a little slower. If they sound frustrated, she will be more compassionate. She has a memory base to where she knows the caller, especially if they call back and they call back three months later, she will know exactly how to speak to them, their name, and the last conversation, and continue the process. She has a knowledge base and emotion detection.
CEOCFO: When a business owner implements your system, how do you help them to be sure to follow through in the way they need to in order to be successful?
Mr. Rodriguez: When a customer onboards, they get a series of questions. They get FAQs, and we make sure everything is answered correctly and that Ava knows their backend, their FAQs, and how the business operates, their language and stuff.
They get a real-
CEOCFO: What kind of feedback do you receive from your early customers?
Mr. Rodriguez: We are scaling up now, but the early customers were close to home. My family was in the service business, so I tested it out with them for about three or four months. When I saw positive results and I started getting organic reviews, I was on to something. That was when I knew I could provide real value for business owners out there because I know the concept works. I was getting good reviews from my family members, so I started working with other business owners and getting good testimonials.
CEOCFO: Are you looking for funding, partnership or investment?
Mr. Rodriguez: Partners are always good to have, but right now I am the sole founder of NexusCall AI. I want to be as organic as I can for now and continue to grow. Usually what happens is when funding comes in for scalability, sometimes quality will go down. Therefore, my focus is quality over quantity. I want to make sure that Ava is up to par and always optimizing. So a lot of services customers that do come on, have quality, and nothing generic.
CEOCFO: What surprised you the most since you got the concept and the business is now up and running and helping people?
Mr. Rodriguez: The feedback is what surprised me the most, and realizing how it is providing value for all these business owners. It is awesome to see, especially being on the field and knowing how it is as a production manager, as it can be stressful. Just seeing one business owner happy, and basically not relying on his phone and having his schedule booked for him automatically is just an awesome feeling.
CEOCFO: What if anything should people know about NexusCall AI that we haven’t discussed?
Mr. Rodriguez: I want to make sure that when people come to us, they are getting quality over quantity. I want Ava to speak for herself. She is not generic. We are not high ticket. In this market, anyone can afford this. You could be a small mom and pop shop with two technicians, onsite. You could be a big corporate company.
There are a lot of these companies that are charging per minute. We are just one flat fee. We are $297 a month. One qualified call can pay for itself, three to five times over. We pride ourselves on that.
We don’t want to be the highest stake; we just want you to come try it out. They get a seven-
